We can fix the future with food growing

Established in 2008, GIY empowers individuals globally to lead healthier and more sustainable lives by growing some of their own food. Our goal is to foster a global community of food growers to contribute to a sustainable food system. Operating as a non-profit social enterprise in Ireland, UK, and USA from Waterford, we have a global presence through partnerships, media, and advocacy. By 2030, GIY aims to inspire over 100 million people to engage in food growing at home, school, work, and within their community. Currently, around 1 million people annually grow their own food via a GIY programme, and our TV series Grow, Cook, Eat and Food Matters have reached over 12 million viewers worldwide on Amazon Prime and RTE.

GIY stories

Meet some of our GIYers (that’s people who grow some of their own food) who all champion Food Empathy – a deeper understanding and connection with food from their experience of growing. If you want food done right, then grow it yourself.
